Gratitude and Gratuity

I left so grateful

Walking out under a sky

That no longer recognize me

Breathing air

That tasted new

Understanding

This had happened

This was real

And I had you to thank

And what had I given you?

$100

Plus the $60 for the hour

I didn’t know about tipping

So I didn’t

I left you my real name

I’ll never know yours

Or what the sky recognized

When you walked beneath it
